About Shawn Jackson

Shawn Jackson is a native of Mississippi, born in Vicksburg and raised in Philadelphia. He was diagnosed with Tourette Syndrome at the age of 15 and also lost his hearing at 21. Growing up, Shawn did not know if he would continue to be alone in his journey with Tourette. As his adulthood further matured, he would find and befriend others who were deaf or had Tourette.

Now at 42, he is the former Deputy Editor of J’Adore Magazine. He has written articles and blog posts about his journey with his hearing loss and Tourette Syndrome all over the web. He enjoys physical activity, writing poetry/prose and helping others. This is but another leg in his journey to tell his (and others’) story. He currently works as a freelance writer and editor.

His ultimate goal is to show that there is no limit to what one can do as either a Deaf person or as someone with Tourette.
